This is kind of a random post, but sums up some of the magical things that we did over the summer and in to the fall. As always, mountain biking is a favorite for everyone! Even Lola got a little taste this summer when we took up all the kids and did the lower loop at Targhee. Phil was so awesome with the kids, teaching them and being so patient. Brewer got past some hurdles and made some big strides on his new bike and Boyd pushed himself hard. He was even able to go up to Targhee just with Phil and they climbed Andy's! I couldn't have been more proud of Boyd and the pictures show that he was pretty proud of himself too. And he should be, it's a pretty good climb! I didn't do as much mountain biking this summer, it actually proved to be a lot harder than I thought it would. My heart rate would pick up pretty quick, but I still loved getting out with Phil. Once Maralee and I road up Cow Bell and my chain broke about 1/2 way up. It was the master link and we didn't have a replacement so I rode down the trail, strider bike style which was pretty hilarious!
We were also able to get out a couple times and paddle the river. Lola seemed to be a little more comfortable this year on the paddle board and the boys still love their little kayaks just as much. The first time we floated, we started way too late and it got really cold. I had to cocoon Lola in my t-shirt, which was a pretty hilarious sight with me being pregnant and her having a puddle jumper on. But I guess you just do what you have to do!! The second time we floated we saw two huge bull moose laying on the river bank. They are always my favorite to see when we float!
Lastly, the boys worked really hard keeping a chart of the extra reading and extra worksheets they were doing. Once they filled up their charts they both earned brand new golf clubs. I was so proud of how hard they worked and we were all so happy when the clubs finally arrived and they could use. A special thanks to Uncle Nipper who helped us get the clubs too! They are awesome and the boys love them!
