The second week of March we had Brewer's 6 month cardiologist check up. They had him scheduled for an echo and I spent the week before prepping him for it. I got the idea from another super awesome heart mom that has a little girl about the same age as Brewer. I told him that they would use a little magic wand over his heart and that it would tickle and take pictures of the inside. He was a CHAMP!! He just laid there super relaxed, with his arm over his head and followed every command that was asked of him. He even gave me the thumbs up at one point. Such a cool kid!!
After talking to the doctor and explaining that we had noticed some decrease in activity levels in Brewer as well as the fact that I was due in the fall we settle for surgery some time in May. Phil and I had talked a lot about this too prior to the appointment and we both felt that late spring would be a good time for our family. Dr. Williams also recommended that we do a fetal echo around 20 weeks just to rule out any heart conditions this time around. Overall it was a really good appointment! Brewer did awesome and we were happy--and a little overwhelmed--with the time we settled on. Now it was just a wait for scheduling to call us to tell exactly when in May the surgery would be.
