This year we had Thanksgiving a little differently. It was our turn to have Thanksgiving with the Moulton's, but Mom, Dad, Quin and Beth decided to head out to North Carolina and spend with Amy's family. Phil and Steve decided it would be fun to go somewhere warm, which I was 100% on board with! Phil found a house in St. George with a pool and hot tub and we started planning all the fun we were going to have. Nate and Oakley as well as Grayson, Emilie, Brisbane and new baby Cedar came from Las Vegas!
All of us who came from the north, met up before we even got to the house and the boys left straightway for golf and the rest of us went to the house and started breaking it in. The kids were so excited about the hot tub, it was the first thing we did. Brewer immediately almost drowned, well not really, but it was scary enough that I hopped in, fully dressed with my phone in my back pocket to pull him out. Not the best way to start the trip, but it was a good reminder that we needed to have some pool safety. Parent fail by me for not having the reminder before the traumatic experience. Unfortunately, all my clothes were in the golf car, so I just had to hang out in wet jeans until the boys came back. When they did, they told us how awesome the course was and how much fun they had.
The rest of the trip involved a few different hikes, mountain biking for nearly everyone, swimming, eating good food and spending quality time together. Sadly, a few people got sick with the tummy bug, which was sucky but certainly did not ruin the trip. The night before Thanksgiving, Lola, Boyd and I all threw up. Poor Phil had to handle Lola all on his own and I did my best to help Boyd. He was good sport and managed it pretty well. But Phil was the real champion for helping all of us. Everyone else stepped up and helped out with Thanksgiving dinner, which was too hard since we ordered some of it, including the turkey, for pick up that day.
We had such a great time! I think the highlight for and possibly Boyd was the mountain bike ride we were able to do the day after Thanksgiving. I was so dang proud of that kid! He road down some gnarly rocks, ones that even I was a little nervous to go down, and did so awesome! The riding was really different than what we are used to up here in the mountains, but it was just as fun. I was so glad that we were able to squeeze that in, even though we weren't feeling our best!! When it was all said and done, I think the consensus was to come back every Moulton year and have a warmer Thanksgiving! We absolutely loved being able to be adventurous outside rather than being stuck inside in the colder weather!! It was so great!
