Right when the 4th of July festivities were over, Lola and I hopped on a flight out of Pocatello (thanks for the ride Pop Pop) and headed for Portland. I wanted to rush to get there because Katlin was getting married and I couldn't be more excited!! Phil came just a day later and unfortunately had bad luck with the pop-up trailer tire. It was so hot driving through Boise and the heat and friction from the road made is pop. Thankfully he used his skills and it didn't hold them up for too long. The wedding was beautiful and Katlin was gorgeous. I was so happy that we were able to make it see such a happy union!! It was also great to be able to catch up with old friends and enjoy an evening without kids. =)
Before camping we tried our best for another family picture. It was utter chaos, but Thelin style-the kind that is still fun, and we managed a few different shots before we ran out of sunlight. Most memorable was having to climb over a fence in nice clothes, even dresses for some, and tromp through a field that we are pretty sure extended beyond our permission...but maybe not too. It was hard to say. Our photographer had major sakyllies and it didn't take too long! But we are so happy that we put forth the effort and ended up with such beautiful pictures.
Then came the camping!! As always, we headed down to Honeyman State Park down in Florence, OR and participated in all the usual activities, sand dunes, salamanders, Cleawox Lake, sand dune scavenger hunt, riding bikes, and eating way too much yummy food! Face painting was new and exciting as well as everyone getting to "show something special that [they] can do." Of course with so many of us, celebrating birthdays is also unavoidable, but oh so fun! The kids always get in to it and this year, Ashley was the lucky winner of birthday decorations hung between the trees. We left straight from Honeyman, which always seems to be more sad of a farewell, but the kids did great. Poor Boyd got carsick only half way through the drive but thankfully we were mostly prepared. We absolutely love our summer time that we get with the Thelin clan. It's always full of lots of fun for kids and adults, lots of adventures and lots of laughing! Another awesome tradition in the books!
