We have some awesome friends that all wanted some good old fashioned adult time. The party included Bart and Jill Birch, Chantz and Jessica Calderwood, and Dustin and Tess Eiden, such a fun crowd. I actually really loved doing this in the winter, when we're cooped up anyway. It makes for easy and fun conversations all gathered around the fire at night. There aren't better laughs or better time than these! We got there Friday afternoon and were able to squeeze in a couple of snow mobile rides before it was dark. The next day, we packed up and hopped on the snowmobiles again for two more rides. One to the mouth of the snake river (mind boggling) and then another up to mesa falls. They were both pretty spectacular and enjoyable for different reasons!
At Big Springs, the trail varied from wide open, to snow packed road, to winding through the trees which was so much fun! We enjoyed the scenery all along and especially at Big Springs. It was hard to wrap my mind around how a river, especially one as big as the snake, can just emerge out of the group. Craziness.
Going up to Mesa Falls was a different experience. This time I hopped on a machine with Phil and we zipped up the road to the parking lot. After a quick hike down the path, we discovered the set of stairs that was packed with snow and iced over. It didn't take long to realize that it was just a real live adult bobsled run. It was hilarious and worth the hike bike up to do it again. The falls were amazing and even more impressive or eerie in the winter. Hopefully, this trip will live on and become a tradition. And hopefully next time it won't be as hard to find overnight babysitters. Thankfully after a few fall-throughs, we lucked out with some really great ones in Austin and Sabrina. I think everyone enjoyed the time they had!!!
