After we got back from Honeyman we needed a few days to sort of recover. Monday we just hung out and spend some time down at Nea's. She was watching Peyton and Piper for the morning as Jade and Ashton had an appointment at the doctor. It was so fun to watch the kids smoother Brewer, most often to his dislike. He got better as the trip went on, but he really preferred to play by himself or play with Max. Max has always been so good with our kids and I'm beginning to think that is just his personality. It is so sweet. During that last week we were fortunate it enough to meet up with Katlin for lunch, have another pool party, and play hockey with Grandpa Thelin. Brewer had some hard moments/days so we just did some hanging out too (on the third floor of Jer's, he really liked it up there). One of my favorite things to do in Oregon with my kids (or not) is go to the zoo. Nearly all of the cousins were there, which created a zoo within a zoo. It was a little stressful at times to keep track of all the kids. Thankfully, Nipper came up with an idea to have a big kid be in charge of a littlier one and that made things much easier. Gabe was in charge of keeping track of Boyd and being his little buddy. It was so cute and probably meant more to me than anyone else to watch Gabe looking out for Boyd. The zoo was a success and we spent many hours there, leaving after seeing the sea lions, the best animal to watch for sure.
While in Oregon I was able to help celebrate Ashton's birthday, who had just spent two days in the hospital due to internal bleeding--thank goodness they caught it!!!! She was a good sport and allowed us to gather together to celebrate her and show her how much we love her! It was a low key party, which in my mind is the best kind! Jeremy watched Brewer and Boyd who were sleeping, but Brewer that little stinker woke up so we had to go home a littler early.
Saturday night my family decided to celebrate my birthday, which was two days later. It was the perfect celebration, probably one of the best that I have had. The only thing that would have made it better was to have Phil there. Brewer refused to go to sleep at a normal time, but at least he was exceptionally happy and even happy to play with other people, especially JaNea. We sang happy birthday and had my all time favorite chocolate cake from Costco. Brewer was entranced by the candles and Boyd was pretty excited too. Then we all played ping pong together. Even Ashton, who was still recovering was able to participate for a few rounds. The games, of course, we played in Thelin fashion, my favorite way.
Sunday morning, Grandpa took Boyd, Brew and I to the airport and he was even able to get a gate pass and stay until we boarded the plane. That was awesome and so helpful. The flight attend over my section of the plane was the worst person ever. Well, maybe not the worst, but it seemed like she was taking out all of her personal issues on me...a mom traveling with two young kids. Makes sense, right? Thankfully the lady sitting next to me was very nice and realized how obnoxious the flight attendant was being. That seemed to make me brush off the rudeness a little easier. I was worried about traveling with Brewer but he really did amazing. He only had one little melt down moment (that could have been prevented with the consideration of the flight attendant) and our lay over was perfect. We had enough time to change a diaper and readjust before we boarded our flight into Jackson Hole. That flight was a dream. The flight attendants were so nice and helpful, the flight was only 32 minutes long, it was beautiful and Brewer slept from take off to after we arrived at the gate. I felt very accomplished (and maybe a little sweaty) after I grabbed all our bags and was waiting for Phil outside. That being said, Boyd was a big help the whole time. It was good to be back home after being gone for so long and felt even better to reunited with Phil.
