Thursday morning we pack up, which was sort of stressful because Phil would be leaving from Florence I needed to keep the bare minimum so I wouldn't have to check a bag on our flight a week and a half later. We realized after we left that my parents weren't too far behind us and we met up with them for lunch in Eugene. While eating lunch the waitress came by with two crisp two dollar bills, one for Boyd and one for Brewer. They were from an older man and it was so sweet. The waitress said that he is always giving them out to little kids. The rest of the drive to Florence was beautiful and we were so excited to be there. As always Boyd was excited to set up the tent and he even wanted to set up his bed all by himself. After that we quickly put up streamers and decorations for Ike's Minion birthday so it would be all ready by the time he got there. It was a lot of fun, but maybe not as much fun as decoration the minion cupcakes the night before. The kids all got bouncy balls, glow sticks and angry bird tattoos after the little party. The big cousins were so great in helping the littler ones put their tattoos on.
The next day we ventured over the lake and it turned out to be more entertaining for the kids than ever before. The big cousins and uncles played a game out at the floating dock and the littler cousins discovered the salamanders that seemed to be overtaking the lake. Alright, they were not overtaking the lake, but with the help of some really nice strangers who dived for them, we ended up with a bunch for the kids to play with. They loved holding them, building homes for them and just watching them crawl around. In my opinion it was pretty seeock, but the kids loved them, especially Taryn and Brek.
In between all of our activities the kids road their bikes around or played at the play ground. There was a quiet moment for them. All the food we had was delicious and we all took turns cooking. S'mores were a big hit for the kids and adults and we even expanded our desserts to the my new favorite gourmet s'mores and starburst.
Friday Brewer got sick and really did terrible sleeping in the tent. It was very stressful for me and I was dreading the fact that Phil would be leaving soon. For some reason, maybe because we had been gone and out of a routine for a while, the only way we could get Brewer to sleep was by pushing him in the stroller. But Phil would be taking that home with him. That night the big boys nearly got caught...well they did get caught shooting off...well, we better not incriminate ourselves here. Let's just say it was a good thing they were all in good running shape. It was definitely something to remember about this particular Honeyman trip.
Saturday, everyone went on a "tray-sure"hunt that Grandpa and some of my brothers had previously put together. The kids had clues and had to use a compass and pace out distances. It was awesome. Even if some of the little kids didn't realize exactly what was going on, they were just happy to hike in the sand dunes. After several clues and hiking clear out into the sand dunes the kids dug up a treasure box filled with tootsie pops! It was a hit. Then we shoot of the rockets we had made and road uncle Jade's 4 wheeler. After that we finished packing Phil, our tent and the rest of our stuff up. I planned to sleep the kids and myself in the tent trailer with my parents. After Phil left we went back to the lake and I struggled with Brewer through the rest of the day. Jade convinced me to sleep in the suburban and that made for a much better night with Brewer. He even slept late into the morning for me. After we got everything cleaned up and packed we all headed over the to the coast. I really didn't want to go because I thought it would be hard with Brewer, but I knew Boyd would love it and we never get the opportunity to go. So we went and they kids had a blast. I was glad that we did and the drive home was really great. Both kids slept and Brewer slept for several hours. Overall it was a great Honeyman trip! The hard moments with Brewer have already started to disappear from my memory!
