Boyd's Aaronic Priesthood Weekend

With the new changes in the LDS church, it meant that Boyd would be able to receive the priesthood and start attending the temple with the new year instead of waiting until he turned 12. Both sets of grandparents wanted to come and the dates just didn't work out until this past weekend. We were so excited to have so much family here to support Boyd and celebrate him and the priesthood. It worked out so that he was set apart right before church, which meant that he was a able to pass the sacrament for the first time. It was great watching him be surrounded and supported in love. We are excited for him to enter this chapter of his life which gives him more responsibility and encourages him to serve, help and watch over those around him. I have a feeling that this will come naturally for Boyd as he has such a kind heart.
Besides Sunday, we had a fun time with Grandma and Grandpa Thelin. They arrived late Thursday evening, with still plenty of time for playing and stories before bed. Friday the boys had school and Brewer had a field trip. We were lucky enough that we got permission to go on field trip, which was delightful for Brewer to hear. So in the morning, Grandpa and I dashed to school with Brewer and headed out on the bus to watch the start of the dogsled races. It was quite interesting and it snowed nearly the whole time. The kids got to watch the races start and then when all the teams had gone out, they got a tour of the trailers and more information about the sport. Plus candy. Ha!
We got back to the school just in time for lunch, which G&G took Brew out for his birthday lunch. Of course he chose to go to Teton Thai and got spice level 3, which surprised the waitress. Basically Brewer was incredibly spoiled on Friday with a field trip and lunch out. We had a good time watching the Jazz vs Portland game that night as well, which turned out better for the Utah fans.
Saturday Phil and Boyd headed over to Jackson for a basketball tournament. Our plan was to follow a few hours later and watch Boyd play a game and grab some lunch. But the weather turned on us and the pass was not in great condition so we opted to stay home. Keeping with the dogsled theme, we watched the Disney movie Togo and had leftover popcorn. Later the we decided that we had to get out of the house for a bit and went for a walk pulling Lola and Riggs on the sled. Brew wasn't real thrilled about the walk idea, but then he realized it would be a good idea to take his rock crawler along with us. That put Brew right in his element and he did complain one bit. At least not until we looped back around and made him keep the truck at home. Then he complained that he needed to be pulled on the sled for the entire second loop. Ha! Stinker. Riggs loved the whole walk and was very entertained and content. Lola entered the realms of deep sleep and only flinched for a 1/2 second when Riggs stood up and landed on her. But she didn't make a peep or complain...it was all in her deep sleep because he resumed her funny laying down position all the way home.
At the end of the walk, Phil and Boyd came home and we all played outside for a little longer. Grandma Moulton and Pop stopped by and then before long we were off to the Brakeman for yummy burgers. In between all the major and memorable events, there was a lot of game playing, book reading, ball dumping, and just fun. It's nice to have such fun grandparents that my kids love, who are also super helpful around the house and getting things done! It was a great weekend!
