The start of school went way too fast. But honestly, I was really proud of the boys for working hard through the summer. They both had summer Brain Quest workbooks that they completely finished. They were actually pretty fun and some of the the pages we got to do together. I plan to get new ones next summer. Brewer also worked extremely hard throughout the summer with Aunt Cheryl and learning phonics. It improved his reading, catching him up to a 2nd grade reading level and maybe just a tid bit higher. We are so grateful for her and the incredible way she works with kids!
Both kids were find with getting back to school. I on the other hand was not ready for the summer fun to end. Well, if I am being totally honest, I felt that way 10 days or so before school started. Then something switched and the kids started getting bored with their usual activities of dirt biking, riding bikes and being outside and they started fighting and having terrible attitudes. After a few days of that ...I was ready. We hopped over to both open houses the day before school and met teachers and got our feet wet. Then the morning of school everyone was excited and ready to go! Since this post is 2 months late, all has gone really well this year so far! Teachers are great as well as friends! Woot woot!
On a related note, I feel as if I have gone back to school. The day before school started I decided it would be a benefit to the school if I were to be the PTO president. Phew!! It's been a crazy amount of work but it's also been rewarding. Phil's been super supportive and Lola and Riggs have been good helpers all along the way. It's been really fun to get to know teachers better from both Driggs Elementary as well as Boyd's school, Rendezvous Elementary. While I am only the PTO president at DES, I got roped in to heading up our biggest fund raiser, Fall Festival, which is combined with RUES, so I have spent a lot of time there as well. Thankfully, that is over now which perhaps is why I now have time to update the blog!
Excellente! Perfecto!
