Farewell to Moulton Auto Glass

It truly is and end of a chapter for our family. This past week we signed a contract selling and finishing our business with Moulton Auto Glass and Detail. It strange to think that part of our lives is now over. That job, is what brought us from Orem to Driggs. In 2009 we sold everything we could to have more money to put towards that new business and then invested countless hours into building it up. We started in a small garage, minimal tools and lot of courage and faith. I am so proud of Phil and what he was able to accomplish, what he built over those years. It has been really neat to watch him grow, in skill and confidence. It has been a hard job too, physically demanding, but Phil has always been willing to put in the effort and time to not only make it successful but to grow the business as well. He has literally put his blood, sweat and tears in to the shop. Okay, maybe not tears from Phil, but I'm sure there were some from me along the way. Our hearts were there and often times our entire life was there. Boyd grew up playing, taking naps and learning at the shop. Brewer too, once he was old enough. Boyd had aspirations of helping with details and windshields when he got to be old enough. I also think the shop is where Phil and I really learned that we work so well together and even though doing a detail wasn't my favorite job, it was worth it to be able to spend more time with Phil and help out.
There will be some things that we don't miss about running the business, like detailing, okay that's just me. But honestly deciding to sell came with a lot of prayers and at times a heavy heart. Last summer, a few months in to Phil's recovery, we realized that it was going to be quite a while before Phil would be at full strength and he's still not. The thought came to us that maybe it was time to look for something different. I can only explain the next events as being guided and divine. The time line ran from about June to January, but in the end Phil had a new job with ProAm Logistics as a freight broker, his two customers being my brothers. We are so grateful that it has worked out and Phil has enjoyed learning and new trade and being able to work without such a physical demand on his body.
Besides working together, we will miss the community interaction that we had at the shop. It's been such a blessing to be able to converse and get to know so many people in the valley through the shop. I'm so glad that we had that opportunity for a few years before we decided to do something different. It was a great way to develop relationships and friendship with so many people from all different walks of life. I hope that we will still be able to continue those relationships as we move forward.
After we got back from Sun Valley it was a bit of a rat race trying to get all of our personal belongings out of the shop. Phil was so busy working two jobs that I tried to move stuff every day. It wasn't easy with Brewer and Lola in tow, but they were pretty good troopers. Poor Lola didn't have single nap in her crib that week. Unfortunately, Phil caught a bug from a trip to Sun Valley, and it knocked him out pretty good. He was feverish for a few days and just felt terrible. With his Addison's Disease, we have to take extra caution and up his meds. He worked through some of it, helping us load stuff, but we ended up hiring a Cade Holder to help us haul the heavy stuff and we couldn't have done it any other way.
By Saturday night we had nearly everything out, which the exception of a few things in the back storage room. All that was left to do was take our signs down. That was strange and I think that's when it really started to sink in. But it felt good too. It felt like the time was right and Phil and I were both ready for him to only be working one job. It really has felt like the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. I have high hopes for this new chapter. It's going to be filled with a lot of learning, love and adventure.
