The day we left for Sun Valley,
happened to be Valentine’s Day! The week leading up to our trip, Boyd and I
baked, decorated, and made Valentine’s to take to everyone. It was so much fun
getting ready to go! Boyd even got a little Valentine time from us: a couple
cookies, and a Curious George Valentine book. Everyone was able to come to Sun Valley with the exception
of Nate, who is serving a mission in California, and Grayson. And we had the
best addition to the group this year too, Claire!! It was the first time that
we had met her and I was probably more excited to see her than anything or
anyone else!! The first night we were there I even got some good quality one on
one time with her!! I knew that was going to be hard to get to I snatched it up
while I could!
Friday nearly everyone went skiing,
or I guess the people who usually go skiing. Even Boyd got a to go to ski
school and was gone almost all day. He had such a great time and did a good
job! His lesson ended at 3 and the rest of the skiers met him up at dollar
mountain to take a few runs with him. He was so thrilled to ski with his Dad,
PopPop and aunts and uncles. Later that night we bowled and went swimming. It
was great to be able to do a couple of activities that everyone participated
in. Even Claire came bowling! Brewer didn’t end up liking the pool as much as I
thought he would, but it was probably because it was dark and he was tired.
Saturday was much like Friday, Boyd
got to do another day at ski school, and I even got to squeeze some skate
skiing in on Sun Valley’s track. After skiing we all opted to go to the pool,
while it was light, and Brewer had a blast! He loved floating on his back and
he even made some new friends, but that doesn’t really surprise us. Wherever we
go, everyone loves Brewer! In between all the activities the girls puzzled and
made little lanterns. The boys watched sports and talked sports. I’m always
glad when Phil has someone to talk sports with, they are few and far between in
the valley.
Sunday we went to church and then
as tradition holds went sledding at the hill across the street from our condos.
It was pretty entertaining and Brewer was even able to squeeze his nap in. We
also snapped a picture spelling “Hi NATE” while we were out on the hill. Sunday
we also finally took both boys to go feed the ducks and swans. Boyd was
delighted and Brewer was pretty captivated by those little creatures that were
very friendly! Later that night we played a fun game of “Let’s Make a Deal” put
together by Phil’s Mom. It was filled with plenty of laughter, good memories,
and a haunting bear puzzle (that should be burned). Even a wall sit contest
some how managed to work its way into the evening. It was pretty memorable.
Again, keeping with tradition,
Monday we took pictures in front the Sun Valley sun and headed out to ice
skate. Before coming to Sun Valley, Boyd was so excited to go ice skating,
along with everything, because he was SURE he was going to be better this year,
“I was TERRIBLE last year!” He’s such a funny kid. And it turned out that he
wasn’t any better. Boyd is pretty athletic and coordinated, but I guess ice
skating isn’t a sport he’ll be mastering.

Very clever with the "hi Nate"! Also, I really don't think it would be possible for Boyd to be any cuter on those skis. Or Brewer with his neon Nikes, for that matter! Looks like a fun trip. I'm so glad Brewer is being good for you in the car!
