A Week With Beth

We were so lucky to start off the year with Beth staying with us!! It was awesome and of course we had a really great time! Hopefully I can remember all of the fun things that we did while she was here! To start off, we should mention that we took Beth to our annual Jensen New Year's Eve Party. We have loved going for many years now and our kids love it as much as we do!! The treats and food were yummy but the fun was even better. We hardly saw the boys and even Lola managed to stay up until midnight. We were planning on taking her home to bed, but she proved to be a trooper and stayed up the whole time. That was either really great or a parent fail, I'm still not sure which one. Beth was introduced to our friends and their different personalities through a few games that we played. It was awesome to have her hopefully she learned a lot about us and our crazy friends.
The following days were spent cooking, skiing, making power balls, working out, skate skiing (where are those pictures?) and eating out at the brakeman (where Beth and I of course did our favorite split of the bacon blue burger and wedge salad, a dream come true to me). We also helped Beth prepare a talk that she had to give when she got back to Utah on repentance and she helped me with a bunch of YW decoration prep.
One of the highlights was taking Beth out with our friends to Jackson for dinner and the Moose hockey game. It was actually something that we had been wanting to do for a few years and were finally glad the stars aligned to be able to go. Holy moly, we choose the right game to go to! Moose is the best team in their league across the nation, but the team they played, from Colorado made it awesome. Some of their teams members blood ran hot which made for lots of fights and easy to banter back and forth. It was an experience for sure, one hopefully we'll get to go to again! The best part was that we were so fun and providing so much of our entertainment that everyone around us and farther away was getting a huge kick out of us and often time joining in with our shenanigans. We have some really fun, carefree, and awesome friends. They sure know how to have a good time.
One of the days when the boys had gone back to school, Beth and I snuck out to Alta and tried our hand at skate skiing. That was another favorite of mine. There isn't much better than being out in nature and the Alta cross country ski track is really beautiful. There's something about the snow and the quiet that just gets me every time. We didn't go crazy, but just skated around chatting about everything and getting our butts kicked (literally). I'm so glad that Beth didn't break anything skiing or skate skiing because if I'm being honest I was a little worried about that!! Haha and....phew!
Oh Beth! We just absolutely loved having her here! Whenever she comes she brings her happiness and it just exudes from her and into everyone else. My kids all adore her and she is so wonderful and gives them all time. She helps with every meal and helps clean up all the time! We wish Beth could just live with us!! It worked out perfectly and Saturday when the boys had to head down to Salt Lake for the Monster Truck Jam, Beth zipped down with them and then all our hearts were a little bit sad! But we were so glad for the time that we got to have Beth!! Fingers crossed that the next time we get to have her won't be too far away!
