Phil turned 31 this year. Because last year was kind of a big deal, we did something really low key. The plan was to go up to Targhee Village and golf their 9 holes, but I did not plan it very well because it was women's night. Instead we hit balls at the driving range for a while and then Boyd, Nate and Phil golfed the two practice holes they had. It was beautiful weather and everyone was just so happy to be together in such a beautiful setting. Boyd and Brewer especially had fun with Uncle Nate, who had just recently moved in with us for the rest of the summer.
After golfing we order some take out from Teton Thai, one of Phil's favorite restaurants in the valley. While we ate Phil opened his presents from his parents and from me. I think his favorite gift were a pair of Utah Jazz dress socks, Stockton to Malone. I think he's worn them every Sunday since then. While we were wrapping up dinner, a bunch of our family friends came over, the Birch's, Saulter's, Calderwood's, Penfold's, Wilson's, Struttmann's and Boogaard's (well just Peter). The kids were served brownies and ice cream and the adults shared a Tillamook Chocolate Peanut Butter Ice Cream Pie that I made. It tasted pretty awesome. Everyone stayed and talked while the kids ran around and played. At the end of the night Phil said he had a really good time, which made me happy that he enjoyed the evening. But it wasn't anything that I did, it was our awesome friends that made it so much fun!
It's fun to watch the years go by and to look back and see where we have come from. I think year 31 was a great one for Phil. He's managing more at the shop, expanding his hobbies, and still does an amazing job at keeping his priorities in line. We are pretty lucky to have him. Happy 31 Phil!
