Uncle Bug Is Home

It really seems like we were just in Provo saying good bye to Elder Moulton and now he's home. His mission went by faster than any of Phil's brother. Probably because we are getting older and time just seems to go by faster. It also seemed to go by quickly because Brewer came along just three weeks after Nate left. In fact, he was still in the Provo MTC. It took a lot of thinking to figure out how we would be able to make it down to the airport. We were really excited to see him, but we really wanted out kids to be there. Boyd was beyond thrilled Nate was coming home and we had been counting down the days when there was still over a month left. Boyd and Nate were good buddies before he left and he is a great example to Boyd. We wanted Brewer to be there too because Nate had never met our miracle heart kid.

Thankfully everything fell into place and we all drove down Tuesday morning. We stopped in Idaho Falls for a few errands on the way, the most important being Brewer's treatment of synagis shots!! Hurray! He's been approved for them again this year!!!! That is such a huge blessing. He hated it, but did really well at the same time. We got a to Salt Lake a little earlier than we thought, so we stopped at Gateway to let the kids run around and so we could all stretch our legs. While we were there, we checked Nate's flight and it was scheduled to get in early!! So we rushed over to the airport and found only Grandma and Grandpa Monson were there. Boyd and Brewer were thrilled to hold their signs and thankfully everyone arrived in time to welcome Elder Nate Moulton home! Actual missionary homecomings have to be one of the best things. They are just so joyous! It was so sweet and tender to watch everyone, especially my own little family, Boyd and Phil and Brewer first meeting with his Uncle Bug.

After the airport we went to City Creek and grabbed some lunch. We all wanted that joyous reunion to last just a little longer. Unfortunately, Phil had to go back to work and drove back to Idaho with Grandma and Grandpa Monson right after lunch. I had planned to stay with the kids and spend the rest of the week in Provo. Phil came back down Thursday night because we wanted to be sure we would be there for Nate's homecoming talk on Sunday. It was a lot of fun to be in Provo. Of course Pop Pop took Boyd and Brewer on the four wheeler to Will's. They came back with a pretty good sized bag of candy. And even better than that was Brewer willingly and excitedly went. He left me and the house totally happy to go. So I guess the moral of that story is whenever I need a babysitter make sure there is a four wheeler and candy involved.

After Phil came back in to town the preparations for Sunday really kicked into gear. I'm pretty sure that is all we did on Saturday and Sunday was make food for Nate Homecoming. We made 4 tres leches cakes, 3 batches flan, 80 taquitos, pico, 7 layer dip, chicken, and tacos. Everything was so yummy and amazing!!! Of course in the hustle of preparing, serving, and eating I didn't take a single picture! Besides the food the company was great too! So many friends and family came to support Nate and it was so good to catch up with everyone! We were very sad to go home back to Idaho but so happy to have Uncle Bug home!!!

Loved this post, yes I agree, nothing like a missionary homecoming, I have been at the airport and witnessed a few that weren't even my own and it is so touching and joyful! I love the cheesy mug that Brew has in the pictures, my favorite pic is Brew with PopPop and his bag of loot!
