After living in Driggs for almost four years I can't count the number of times that we have driven past Bear World, trying to spy as many animals as possible at speeds of 65mph on our way to Idaho Falls. They had a good deal, half price, in April and we decided it would be fun to go and meet up with our friends, the Struttmann's. After Brewer being sick for the majority of the previous week we were all dying to get out and have a little adventure. It did not disappoint. Thinking twice on that, it did take FOREVER to get through the admission gates, but then everything was really fun!
The baby bears caught our attention immediately. How could they not?! After we left I regretted not spending the extra money to feed one. Boyd still talks about them, remembers their names and what the keepers had to say about them. I don't blame him, they were pretty unforgettable.
Boyd was thoroughly entertained by everything there. He especially enjoyed all the rides. He hasn't had very many, if any, opportunities to actually ride a little amusement park ride. They were all free and he rode every one he was tall enough for. Bear World also had a special Easter Egg Hunt half way through the day for all the kids to participate in. I'm guessing it possibly a slow time of year for them? Who doesn't want to give their kids free candy....
The highlight of the petting zoo was either the deer you could pet, not getting bitten by the nesting geese or the giant moose who came right up to the fence where we were. Either way it was fun in a cautious kind of way. After we had enough, we drove through the loop to see the buffalo, elk, albino elk, wolves, and bears. I'm sure that was the highlight for Boyd. There were so many animals and Phil even let Boyd ride on his lap and help drive the car! It's safe to say that we'll be going back and that I'll feed a bear cub...but maybe on another half price day.
On our way home we grabbed some lunch and dessert in Rexburg and ran a couple errands. Both Boyd and Brewer did so well! It's getting so much easier to travel with Brewer. He's usually really good when we are out, but still gets a little sick of the car. The one thing he does do consistently, where ever we are, is cross his ankles. It's so funny and so dang cute!

So that's what the mysterious Bear World holds! So many years of wonder...and really cute bear cubs. Maybe one of these years our trip will align with half off prices. :)
