Brewer's Birthday

Even though the weeks and basically month of February were emotional leading up to Brewer's birthday, the actual day was filled with fun and joy. We didn't have a huge celebration for Brewer's sake and just kept it to our little family. We may do a bigger celebration this summer. But I almost preferred it that way. Boyd, Brewer and I spent the day playing, pretty much just like an other day, but maybe with a few more kisses and hugs for everyone. As a gift to ourselves, getting through this first year was as much as an accomplishment for Phil and I as it was for Brewer, we decided to go out to dinner. Boyd and Brewer do really great at restaurants and so we had an enjoyable time. After dinner we came back and opened a few presents and of course had cake and ice cream. By the time we got around to the cake, Brewer was about done with the day. He did hang in there long enough to take a few cute pictures, but the overall cake experience wasn't as enjoyable as it may appear in the pictures. We couldn't be happier to be celebrating Brewer's 1st birthday and enjoyed watching Brewer open his presents and Boyd helping him. It was pure joy and we can't wait to celebrate his next birthday!

A few days after Brewer's birthday we had his one year check up. The doctor was happy with his overall growth and health, which is always a huge relief. Brewer just keeps surprising us with how well he's doing and we are so grateful! His one year statistics (I'll add the actual %'s when I find them) were as follows: Head 60ish%, Weight 30ish%, and Height 1/2%. Poor kid is so short, but he more than makes up for it in personality, determination, and resilience. After enduring 3 different shots at the pediatrician visit, we tortured Brewer further and stopped to get his synagis shots. Poor kid was warn right out by the end of our trip to Idaho Falls.

What a special, sweet day. That will always be a great memory. Sometimes the most meaningful birthdays are spent with just our little families. Brew is just getting cuter and cuter. I did chuckle that he is only in the 1-2%ile for height. Maybe he'll have a growth spurt and be tall like his brother! Your boys are so wonderful. We wish we were lucky enough to have you guys closer to us!
