We spent the rest of the week hanging out with my family, doing various activities together, running errands, and meeting up with friends. Monday evening, almost everyone headed out to dinner at PF Chang's and then went and saw the new Sherlock Holmes movie. Phil made it to dinner, but then went home because he wasn't feeling very good. He was sick later that night. Fortunately, it didn't last too long and felt a bit better the next day.
Tuesday, everyone (except Ashley who was sick) headed out to McMinnville to Evergreen Wings & Waves Waterpark. It was pretty amazing and the kids all had a great time! Boyd was in heaven. He never gets to do anything like that and only stopped once to eat some lunch. He was only allowed to go down one water slide, but he didn't seem to care and went down it over and over! He also really loved the hot tub and the wave pool. We were able to snag a tube one time in the wave pool and he jumped into the middle and clung onto the handles. That may have been his favorite part. He giggled as the waves rolled him up and down. It was so cute to watch. The also had an interactive museum where the kids could run around and explore. He loved that too and quite frankly so did I. I learned there that your arm span is as long as you are tall. Pretty interesting. Sadly, I think Boyd got dehydrated while we were there. I tried to get him to drink water, but he would only take sips. By the time we left he was complaining that his head hurt and when we got home it was getting worse. We gave him some medicine, had him drink a lot, and tried to put him to sleep, but it hurt him just to move and to lay on his side. It was so sad and I felt really bad. Finally he fell asleep and that seemed to be the end of it.
Waiting in line to get in. He could hardly stand to wait.
Thursday we started off the day driving into Portland and going to Voodoo Doughnuts. We have heard a lot of good things about the little donut shop, it has even been featured on food network. We took Macie with us as part of her birthday present from us. It was such a fun place with a cool vibe. They had tons of different doughnuts including the Maple Bacon. A maple bar with bacon on the top. It did not disappoint. I also really like their old fashioned doughnut. Those are my favorite, but they have to be done right, and there are at Voodoo Doughnuts.
Boyd's Cotton Candy doughnut.
The rest of the day we ran a few more errands. My Dad took Boyd for a few hours while my Mom and I went and got a pedicure. Then we went up to the Neff's and hung out there for a few hours before we had to head back to Justin's to get ready for the temple. This was going to be the first time that my whole family got to go to the temple together. For some reason or another in the past, we have never all been together. It was neat to go and my Mom had a great idea on the way. She thought that we should do Sealings instead of a regular session. She called the temple and they said that there just happened to be an extra Sealer there and if we hurried we could have our own private Sealing session. When we got there, the Sealer turned out to be an old family friend, old Bishop, and old Stake President. It made it extra special.
Friday morning was the BYU bowl game. The boys came over and I didn't pay too much attention to it. I did laundry, packed, and played on my Cameo. It was a relaxing and yet kind of crazy morning.
That afternoon we met up with Katlin downtown for some lunch. It's always so great to see her and she's always so good to Boyd! She had a couple of gifts for him and even something for the new baby too. She's too sweet and Boyd always seems to ham it up a bit around her too. He must have a little crush.
After lunch with Katlin we drove a few blocks over to OMSI. It was a great place to let the kids run wild and play. The adults basically just chatted and checked on the kids from time to time. However, I probably should have checked on Boyd more often since Kristin brought him to me with a mouth full of sand at one point. Gross. I thought for sure he would be sick later, but he was fine. In the evening all the adults (and two baby girls) gathered at Jeremy's for a last night together. We enjoyed one another's company while playing a game Justin invented, which turned out to be pretty entertaining and I even won! =) It was sad to say goodbye to everyone, but Boyd and I had been gone for two weeks and we were ready to head back home. I knew going home meant that our baby boy would be here really soon too. Plus we were looking forward to our next perinatologist appointment. At the same time I knew we wouldn't be back to Portland until August (that's a long time). So it was still sad knowing we wouldn't see everyone for that long. But our trip to Portland was awesome! We had such a great time and we were able to do a lot with the entire family!
Here are some more pictures I found from my camera phone.
Here's Boyd just after he opened his gift from my Mom and Dad. He was thrilled to have his own little computer. It's been a favorite around our house.
Boyd and Macie playing a top spinning game. I can't remember what it's called now but it's pretty fun. One night the "big kids" even had a little tournament with the tops for a good hour.
