Oregon & Honeyman 2011

Our trip to Portland was really fun, as usual. It was busy and yet relaxing too. The first day we got there we pretty much just hung out and were lazy. We swam in the pool and saw most everyone (and told everyone that we were pregnant). Saturday evening we went to an event out at a barn (a glorified barn). It was so much fun and everything was free. I have to admit that I did use my pregnancy as an excuse to indulge a little bit. They had a shaved ice machine, a cotton candy machine, and a wide variety of desserts. I'm sure I ate too much, but it was so good!! They also had fun activities to do including a bouncy slide, a live bad, horses, and an electronic bull.

Left to right: Taryn, Henry, Gabe, Sam, Trenton, Boyd, Macie, Marley, Charlotte, & Lucy (okay the last two might be flip flopped--I can't tell them apart from far away).

Boyd loved the cotton candy. He either takes after his mom or is a normal kids that loves anything sugary. Maybe both.

Going down the bouncy slide.

Looking at all the horses with Grandpa and Henry.

On our walk around Boyd just stopped and started dancing. It was pretty entertaining.

Boyd and Peyton have a cute relationship. Here they are saying goodbye at the end of the night.

Sunday we went to church with my parents in my homeward. It always good to "come home" but that day I had a bad wave of morning sickness right during sacrament. That was the closest I've been to running to the bathroom this pregnancy. Thankfully is passed after about a half hour and then I felt fine. Later I even got to sit in with my Mom during primary for a few minutes! It was fun.

After we came back to Justin's, put Boyd down, and got ready for the rest of the family to come over and have dinner. It was so much fun! My parents made ribs (my absolute favorite) and we played games and hung out. It was so nice just to be able to relax and catch up with my family!

The kids playing outside before church.

The boys playing catch before dinner.

My Dad grilling up the ribs.

THE RIBS. YUM!

Boyd and my Dad hanging out after dinner.

The kids having dessert. These six are all less than a year apart.

This picture is precious to me. These two make me laugh so hard. They're funny together. Sometimes they would play so well together and sometimes they would be fighting just like siblings!

I had to practically drag these guys together to get a picture of them. But honestly, what do you expect when you wear matching Brazil jerseys.

During the next week we caught up with Katlin at the Cheesecake Factory. It was great to see her and catch up on each other's lives! It was right before he birthday so of course we told the restaurant and they embarrassed her by singing happy birthday to her. Boyd thought it was great and then even better when Katlin shared her birthday dessert with him.

Somewhere during the week we did too much shopping at the mall, the Rack, and thanks to some friends to the Nike employee store, where we spent way too much money. But it was all really fun and we got some great stuff.

Here's another great picture of Taryn and Boyd. We were marching out on the deck in the morning, a moment when they were getting along. I love their faces! Taryn is great!! I just love that little girl. One morning Phil took Boyd and some of the other kids were gone too. So I had some time with just Taryn. I loved it! It was a lot of fun to play with her!

Even though we went swimming nearly every day we were there, I finally brought my camera out the day before we went camping. Boyd loved swimming and once we got him used to wearing a life jacket he was pretty comfortable getting around in the pool by himself.

Thursday we left for Honeyman. We got into camp (after a trailer backed into our parked car), set up our tent an started dinner. It was a little stressful, but thankfully we had my Mom and Dad on our team and everything turned out really great. We made buffalo chicken, cheesy chicken, au gratin potatoes, and corn on the cob (all but the latter done in dutch ovens). Plus for dessert we had peach cobbler and apple crisp. It was great and I think everyone enjoyed it!!

Phil the dutch oven pro.

One morning we did this really fun craft with the kids (a big thanks to Ashley and Kristin for bringing the crafts). Each kid made a placemat made from leaves, moss, and other things from the forest.

Here's Boyd's. He didn't really help very much. So I just enjoyed the project myself by making a nice ocean scene!

Having lunch.

Out on the sand dunes.

Roping in Grandpa.

We did a lot of bike riding! It was great!

Having breakfast with Grandma by the campfire.

Hanging out with Uncle Justin by the fire.

When we went out to the sand dunes to enjoy the awesome zip line Jade put together there were a lot of other 4 wheelers driving around. Boyd was mesmerized.

Trent, the birthday boy, taking one of the first runs down the zip line.

Sam dug a nice hole for himself.

4 Wheeling!

My Dad put together an awesome treasure hunt for the kids. It was a lot of hiking and digging and they even had to learn how to use a compass. I think this is why I thought my day was McGyver growing up. He's creative and can figure out how to do anything. Basically, he's awesome.

A quick picture before we had to say goodbye.

One last elk call with Grandpa.

We had to get back by Sunday evening and we had along drive ahead of us so we left Saturday afternoon. Without any planning my family broke out into song and dance (very typical of my family). I have to say that this might have sent me over the edge. I'll blame it one pregnancy, but that little unplanned performance just epitomizes the awesomeness that is my family. And I love them. I can't wait to see them again!

Great summary of the trip! We were so happy you guys all came (Tink is still a little upset you didn't bring Remy). It was so sad to say goodbye to you guys. We'll be looking forward to Christmas. And that dutch oven dinner was SO GOOD!
