March 10th Boyd and headed out to the Idaho Falls airport for a little trip to Portland. Boyd was such a good traveler this time around. We had to do a lot of waiting everywhere we were, but he was a champ! He had a great time at the airport watching the airplanes and trucks running all over the tarmac.
This was the first time that we flew since Boyd turned two, which meant that we had to pay for him to have his own seat. He loved it! And it gave us so much more room! All of our flights were smaller planes with just two seats on either side of the aisle. This was great for us because we had our own section! He had been waiting to dive into this bag of goldfish since we left Driggs.
I did a horrible job of taking pictures while I was in Portland, like always, but there are a few. Boyd and I stayed with JaNea and her family and it was fun. Boyd had a good time playing with his triplet cousins and Sam and Gabe. About half way through our trip Gabe got a cold and a fever and trying to avoid getting sick we jumped houses and stayed with Justin and his family. That was also really fun. Boyd couldn't get enough of the basketball court and riding on the little cars they have.
Friday morning we went to OMSI with JaNea, Ashton, Kristin, and Dad (plus all the kids that go along). Boyd had a blast and it was a great start to our trip. There were so many fun things that Boyd did, like playing with flubber, playing with a crane, and playing with balls that would shoot out of a tube. It was great and I was so bummed I forgot my camera!
Saturday Boyd and I spent the morning and afternoon with my Mom. We went to Costco and the fabric store. then we went back and saw Mutti. It was great to see her and to have Boyd there! Although with her mental health deteriorating it was a little bittersweet. Mutti was like my second Mom growing up and now it's very difficult to have a conversation with her. But we went through pictures and did the best we could. My Mom helped me cut and sew fabric to make a bonnet! And it was really fun to do that together!
Here's Boyd at costco with his giant hot dog. He thought it was pretty good and he nearly ate the whole thing!
Saturday night we went over to Justin's and watched the BYU basketball game. Although, it was one that they lost, it was still fun to get together with everyone and spend time with my family! And it's fun for Boyd to spend time playing with his cousins too!!
Sunday was church and family dinner! As always it was a bit crazy, but fun at the same time!!
Every time I go to Oregon I feel like I don't get to spend quality time with everyone. So this time I asked everyone if Boyd and I could come over and have dinner with just them. That was great! Monday we went to Jade's, had dinner, and did family home evening. That proved to be a little difficult with two 2 1/2 year olds. But really fun too!
Boyd and I attempting to play I am A Child of God for FHE. It didn't go so well with Boyd sitting up on the bench with me.
Peyton happily choking Boyd. Okay, she's not choking him, she giving him a hug while he's trying to slide off the couch. But I think this picture is hilarious!
Tuesday Boyd and I went to Jeremy's for dinner and had some delicious Thia food. Boyd and Max played basketball and all the kids played with these awesome magnets! It was great to be able to catch up! Plus Max always plays so well with Boyd! And Max even read me a book before he went to bed, which was really impressive since he's only 6.
Wednesday I had dinner with my Mom & Dad, but my Dad had to leave early to go to Young Men's. Thursday was St. Patrick's Day and the little leprachuns left Boyd a trail of little green jelly beans out of our bedroom door. It's always great fun to spend time with Justin and Ashley on holidays because Ashely puts in so much effort to make it really fun for their family--we even had all green food for dinner!
On a negative note, we took Boyd's cast off a few days before we left and Boyd would not walk on his leg. About two days before we left to come back home, he started walking a little bit. But because he wouldn't walk he was very needy and dependent. That was a little hard and he became attached to me to the point that I couldn't leave the room without him crying. If I would have know that would have happened I would have just kept his cast on him until after our trip. Lesson learned.
Play at Justin's House
Going home. It was crazy at the airport when we left. Thankfully my Mom came in helped us. I don't know what I would have done without her help.

What a great idea to spend a little time with each family! And I love the picture of Boyd with his hot dog at Costco. Remember when we used to buy polish dogs at Costco all the time?! Good memories...and what a great idea to get it without the bun for him...I'll have to remember that for Sawyer. Glad you had a fun trip!
