Happy Birthday

Our family had a very busy summer. I'm always amazed by how fast the time passes. All three of our birthdays were quite fun, but of course Boyd's was the most exciting and entertaining!

July 23rd
Here is my attempt at making a birthday cake for Phil.

Boyd was fascinated by the candles and all the singing. It was pretty funny.

August 26th
Jill made me a beautiful birthday cake (as always).

Before cake and ice cream we went out to dinner at Magelby's to celebrate Grayson's return to Australia and my birthday.

September 29th
Jill, Beth, and I made monkey cupcakes for Boyd's birthday. They turned out really cute and Boyd loved them and his monkey theme!

Monkey cupcakes!

Boyd wasn't a huge fan of the birthday hat, but he put up with it long enough to get a few pictures.

We wrapped his Curious George monkey that he sleeps with in his crib because he loves it! It was funny to see him light up and give him monkey a little love. Then he threw him on the floor. I guess he knew there was more to come.

Phil gave Boyd a John Deer tractor set for his birthday. Of course he loves it and he's figured out how to push them all along the floor.

Boyd was pretty anxious to get his hands on that cupcake!

It was quite entertaining to watch Boyd eat his cupcake. He ate all three of the cookies (ears and nose) first and then dove into the rest! Eating the whole cupcake, including chocolate frosting, was a pretty big deal for Boyd. We hadn't given him too many sweet treats before but he seemed to adjust just fine.

It is so crazy that Boyd is 1. Looking back on the last year I feel a big sense of accomplishment and I am so grateful for the growth that our family has gone through, both physically and spiritually. Boyd is such a fun little guy. It's hard for me to call him my baby any more because he is so capable and gaining so many skills. Just before his birthday he started taking steps here and there and now walks all over the place.

Weight: 21.8 lbs - 43%
Lenght: 30 in - 50%
Teeth: 12

What he loves:

-Bath
-Music
-Going for bike rides
-Swinging at the park
-Curious George Monkey

I agree, all of the cakes were awesome! Especially Boyd's monkey cupcakes! I love it. I wish I could have been there to celebrate, but I enjoyed hearing about it from my sisters and I'm glad they got to partake :). Happy Birthday to all of you!

The monkey cupcakes are so cute! I'll have to tell JaNea she could use that theme for the triples B-day....we could do "three little monkeys jumping on the bed" Boyd is a handsome boy!
