Green Eggs & Ham

I can't tell you how long we have been checking the nests in our chicken coop for eggs. Day after day our hopes were let down, but not today. Phil opened the door and said, "There's an egg!" Of course I didn't believe him, but then he pulled out a pretty brown egg.

I guess when hens first start laying eggs, the eggs aren't too big. However, we thought that this one was a pretty good size!

I'm not sure if it's pathetic how excited we were about this egg. Phil hadn't had breakfast so he immediately went inside and cooked it up. I had a little bite of it and have to say it was pretty tasty! Good job, Phil. The fruits of your labors are finally paying off.

Hopefully the others chickens will follow suit and before we know it we'll have more eggs then we'll know what to do with!

Yum...we are proud of you. Our neighbors have chickens and they said that they have more eggs than they can keep up with and might have to start selling them...I am sure you will be in the same situation soon enough.

How fun! Rowan doesn't like eggs so I hide them in with his yogurt.
