BLADE

Phil and I recently made a trip to our dermatologist for my monthly check up and second treatment. We really love our doctor. She's young, cute, and really seems to care about us. At this last visit she was asking questions about our baby. We told her that we were having a boy and she asked us if we had any names picked out yet. Usually, when I tell people what we have decided to name our baby, I'll start by telling them that we are naming him after Phil's grandpa. However, this time I didn't. As I was laying on the table, I told her that we were going to name him Boyd. She repeated the name in a question, and to me it sounded a bit like Boyd and a bit like Blade. I have never heard any one mistake Blade and Boyd, so I just assumed that she had said Boyd and answered, "yes". Our doctor then said, "Oh good, I thought you said Boyd." Phil and I looked at one another and just smiled. We would have corrected her if she hadn't said "oh good" but we like her so much that we didn't want to embarrass her and we really just thought it was funny. So then a few minutes later, the assistant starting asking us questions about the name. We could both tell that he had been thinking about it the whole time. He asked how we were going to spell it and what made us think of the name. Phil promptly piped in with answers and we both had a hard time keeping a straight face. Surprisingly, this whole Blade thing made my treatment much more bearable!
