Phil & His New York Yankees

Phil had the once in a lifetime opportunity to go to New York and see the Yankees play at their new stadium. We had new neighbors, who quickly became friends move in next door in Oregon. He mentioned to Phil once that he could get tickets to any baseball games, he's a professional baseball player. I urged Phil not to miss his chance, it would definitely be something he regretted if he didn't go. Now that the trip is over, he is so glad he didn't pass it up.
He left Tuesday afternoon and arrived late in to New York. Wednesday morning, Jeremy and Phil went to the Today Show were there were definitely some perks and they got great "seats" behind the cameras and go to meet a lot of the people there, including Matt Lauer and Carson Daily. Matt Lauer even borrowed Phil's Yankee hat briefly and represent New York and went to the window where obnoxious Red Socks fans had their own paraphernalia on.  Phil got to zip around New York the rest of the day and as the game got closer Jeremy and Phil headed to the stadium. Once there Jeremy definitely hooked Phil up with an amazing experience. He got to go down on the field and watch the players, go in to the dug out, which no one gets to do, and met Zac Efron who was also there for the game.
At home JaNea and her kids came over to swim and we periodically checked the score of the yankee game. At the seventh inning it was still 0-0. By the time she left, the Red Socks had scored 3 runs which was a bit of a gut punch. I thought to myself how sad would it be if the yankees lost. Phil has had such bad luck with traveling to watch his favorite teams, it seemed they always lost. As I was putting Boyd to bed I decided to check the score with him one more time. I was SHOCKED to see that the yankees had won! The score was 3-5. Turns out that after one run was scored Texeria hit a walk off grand slam. Oh my!! You couldn't ask for a better story book ending, once in a lifetime moment than that! What an amazing experience for Phil to witness!!
The next day Phil spent over at Ground Zero and at the 9/11 museum. The pictures don't do it justice, but they are truly humbling. He's excited to take me back there one day and share all his adventures with me! I have to admit, I'm looking forward to that too!
