4th of July: 2009

Phil and I had such a fun 4th of July! It started at about 7 AM in the morning. The Moulton's kept Boyd over night (because we were there late and would be back early the next morning), and Phil went over in the morning to help his dad on some projects. I came a bit later and we all got ready for the parade.

Boyd was thoroughly entertained by all the sights and sounds. It was fun to watch him taking it all in.  He was a great little boy and amazingly managed to take his morning nap during some of the excitement. My favorite part of the parade had to be the war veterans. I have so much respect and gratitude for each one of them and for all of our soldiers currently fighting for our freedom.

We were so lucky that Phil's sister, Amy, was able to be in town for a few days. Phil, Boyd, and I  definitely loved having her around. (Come back, Amy! We miss you already!)

I just love this picture! Boyd was quite content with his Aunt Amy.

After the parade, some of the boys went golfing and the rest of the gang went to the pool. After spending about 2 hours at the pool we met up with the golfers and headed home to get ready for a BBQ with the Rammells and Balls! I wish I had taken pictures. The table and all the decorations in the Moulton's yard made for one festive BBQ.

After the BBQ, Steve, Rachel, Phil, and I headed off to the Stadium of Fire (Steve won tickets, surprised? Well, you shouldn't be).

It was so much fun to go with Steve and Rachel. The Jonas Brothers were the main performance, and while none of us knew any of their songs, we enjoyed  Glenn Beck, SheDaisy, and the dancers in the  beginning. Although, it was pretty entertaining to watch all the teenage girls go crazy when the Jonas Brothers were performing. I've never quite seen some one scream so much or so loud.

After the performance and some fireworks, we were able to watch a flag retirement ceremony. Back in the 2002, the flag from the World Trade Center was recovered and brought to Salt Lake City for the Winter Olympics. At the Stadium of Fire they brought in the flag and snaked it in an incinerator.

It was a solemn experience to watch that flag burn and the live choir signing combined with more fireworks added to the reverence of the moment. We were so glad we were able to be a part of that experience and to show our allegiance and respect for our country.
